How this compares

There are three ways to find out whether AI assistants recommend your business. This one is the cheapest way to get a rigorous answer once — and it is the wrong choice for two of the three situations below.

Monitoring subscriptions

Tools like Otterly, Peec, Profound and Scrunch track a set of prompts continuously and chart movement over time. Public pricing runs from roughly $29/month at the entry level to several hundred, with enterprise plans well beyond that.

Buy one of these if you manage visibility as an ongoing job — an agency with a roster of clients, or a brand with someone accountable for the number every month. A dashboard you check weekly is worth far more than a document you read once.

Don'tif you are a single business that wants to know where you stand, fix what's broken, and get on with the job. You'll pay monthly for a chart you stop opening.

Agency audits and retainers

Agencies sell one-time AI search audits in roughly the $1,500–$5,000 range, and ongoing retainers from about $2,000/month upward. That buys human strategy, and usually the implementation work as well.

Buy this if you want someone to do the work, not just tell you what it is. We produce the diagnosis; an agency produces the diagnosis plus the labour, and that difference is most of the price gap.

Don't if you have someone who can implement — a marketer, a developer, a capable web person. Then you are paying agency rates for a document.

This report

$749, once, delivered automatically in about half an hour. 30 customer questions asked three times each on five platforms — 450 samples — with a visibility rate and confidence range for every question, the competitors named in your place, and a roadmap ordered by how many questions each gap affects.

Buy this if you want a rigorous answer now, from something that shows its working, and you can act on it yourself or hand it to someone who can.

Don't if you need continuous tracking, or if you want the fixes done for you.

The one thing we do differently

Most tools ask each question once. AI assistants don't answer the same question twice the same way, so a single ask tells you what happened that one time — not how often it happens.

We ask every question three times on every platform and report the result with a confidence range. It is a boring difference that changes what the number means: one sample supports a range of 0–79%, while ninety samples at the same underlying rate supports 1–9%. The second is a measurement. The first is an anecdote with a percentage sign.

We didn't find another tool in this market making that claim. If you find one, we'd genuinely like to know — hello@citationchecks.com.

Start with the free check

Seven questions across all five platforms, no charge and no account. It uses the same engine as the paid report, just fewer questions asked once each — enough to tell you whether you appear at all, which for most businesses is the only answer they need before deciding anything.

Competitor pricing above is from published rates as of August 2026 and is approximate — it moves, and per-seat or per-engine add-ons are common. We have no affiliation with any tool named here, and make no claim about their quality: they solve a different problem, and for many buyers that problem is the right one.
